ComputerGear Announces Continuing Partnership with University of WA Do-It Program
Empowering People with Disabilities Through Technology and Education
Woodinville, WA July 1, 2017 -- ComputerGear, Inc., the expert in science, tech, engineering, and math (STEM) gifts since 1993, announced today its continuing partnership with the University of Washington Do-It Program with a donation of T-shirts to all Do-It Summer Study participants. The Do-It Program helps prepare high school students with disabilities for college, careers, and leadership.
"Since 2014, we've been excited to partner with the UW Do-It Program with donations of T-shirts for Summer Study students," said Terry Powers, ComputerGear, Inc. spokesperson. "It's fun to hear that they get a kick out of wearing our STEM focused T-shirts and it furthers our mutual mission to promote technology and education."
"Some kids with disabilities have expectations that are lower than they need to be," said Sheryl Burgstahler Do-It Director. "At Do-It we try to change that. The Summer Study program entails a live-in summer program at the University of Washington in Seattle, where students participate in academic lectures and labs, live in residence halls, and practice skills that will help them be successful in college and careers."
The Do-It (Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking and Technology) Center is dedicated to empowering people with disabilities through technology and education. It promotes awareness and accessibility -- in both the classroom and the workplace -- to maximize the potential of individuals with disabilities and make our communities more vibrant, diverse and inclusive. For more information about the Do-It Program, contact Sheryl Burgstahler or visit https://www.washington.edu/doit/do-it-scholars.
